Local Raw Honey

Heard from my old college roommate yesterday--she mentioned her terrible allergies. I sent her an email that said three words. Local raw honey. I sent this email because my mother, myself and at least five other people we know personally have gotten completely off allergy medication by consuming about a tablespoon of local raw honey each day. It has to be local--it contains pollen from your area and acts like an immunotherapy treatment. It has to be raw--heat and filtering removes the good stuff. I get it at a local health food store. I put it in tea, smoothies, muffins, yogurt, glazes for salmon, dressing for salad, pureeed winter squash and anywhere else I want a little sweetness.

Allergy season is coming--even earlier this year, I'm sure, with all the warm weather we're experiencing.

You won't hear about local raw honey when CNN or the other mass media outlets run their Allergy Reports.
Pharmaceutical companies and allergists are not really into you discovering an age-old treatment that costs pennies a day and actually works--and also provides you with many other vitamins and healing qualities. But you heard it here.

Please don't consider this medical advice--look it up and ask around for yourself. I know there's a warning about not feeding honey to babies under the age of one, and there may be other things to consider as well. But I know it worked for me. This spring, I'm off to meet my local beekeepers in person. I'll report back.
