$1000 for Farm Aid

I know, I know, two posts in one day. This is a first for me. But I am too excited to wait until tomorrow to tell you about the latest. I just opened a FoodShed shop on cafepress.com and designed some simple messages on a variety of items. I left off the new FoodShed logo because I hate to wear logos and I figure most of you probably feel the same way. CafePress offers these items for a base price, and the "shop owner" adds on a certain amount of money to make a profit. I added about 5 bucks to everything, except the stickers. So CafePress mails me five bucks for every item sold.

Here's the exciting part--I'm donating ALL this money to Farm Aid. Farm Aid helps family farmers, who are struggling to hold onto their land and to make a living. We have to help these farmers as we continue to build local food networks because if we help them keep their land, we all win with fresh, local produce and a stronger local economy. Plus, messages such as the ones on these products help get the word out about the growing nationwide support of local food.

So, I'm not exactly sure how this will go. I have ordered from CafePress before and liked my tank top very much. It's actually my favorite shirt. Personally, I'm going to try another tank top and the tote bag (which has a different message on each side)--I think that would be great for farmers markets and the supermarket. The last time I was at the supermarket, the checkout clerk asked me, "What is your bag type?" instead of the usual, "Plastic or paper?" What is my bag type? It was as if he had asked me my atrology sign, or if I was a morning or evening person, or if I was the kind of person who dipped my toes in the pool first or dove right in. I had forgotten my fabric bags in the car and literally ran out to the car to get them so that I could be the "fabric type."

A goal. It's nice to have a goal. I don't know--$1000? Does that sound about right? That would be 200 items sold. Can we do this? Let me know what you think. And click here to check out the products and to order. There's a cute baby's bib, a dog shirt, a mug, a hat, a bunch of t-shirts in various styles (including plus sizes and maternity), some postcards for sending friends, a sticker for the car, and I made sure to include the only organic cotton item offered!
