So a woman, new to Atlanta, invited strangers to her home for Thanksgiving, dozens and dozens of them that had nowhere else to go for the holiday. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution covered the story, and I just read the follow-up article this morning. The dinner was an abundant, warm and wonderful affair.
And so, that got me thinking about those of you out there reading FoodShed Planet. No, I'm not hosting a dinner anytime soon, but I would like to invite you to let us know about yourself a bit. I can see from my stats that folks are tapping in from the United States, Canada, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Japan, Sweden, and, of course, my friends in Australia. A veritable colorful palette of people from around the world.
Just say hi. Let us know if you have a blog or website. I love, love, love reading the blogs of others who garden or otherwise try to live sustainably. I've been spending time on The Slow Cook this week and am really enjoying getting to know Ed and his world (and it's cool that he and I share the same template!).
Where in the world are you? Not just the country or state, but your state of mind as well. And don't worry about signing in to Blogger to post. Post anonymously and then you can give your blog address in the comment.
As we leave the holiday of Thanksgiving behind, I give an extra special thanks for how colorful my world has become this past year and a half. Because of you.

Hi Pattie!
I'm writing in from Eastern Upstate New York, where we're expecting snow (and a lot of it) every minute between now and April. My blog isn't nearly as interesting as yours -- I've only woken up to the meaningful little ways I can be more eco-conscious in the last two years, and have been logging the greening attempts over the last few months -- most of which I seem to be mucking up.
I keep hoping that you'll be able to circumvent your neighborhood restrictions and figure out how to house ducks or hens or geese in a dog hut -- stick with the dreaming!
Happy Thanksgiving,
Lissa
I'm a pretty new reader and have been delighted to have stumbled across your blog. I'm from Atlanta, but living in Madison, WI for grad school. One of the things I hated about Atlanta is that it's so hard to live sustainably: I had to drive (25/miles a day), couldn't walk to a park, find a nearby farmer's market, etc. (I lived in Dunwoody so the commute wasn't the 50 it was when I lived in Decatur and could do some of those things.) Now I fill my car up once a month and walk to the farmer's market. But it's been wonderful to read about someone in Atlanta who is concerned with all the things I'm interested in!
The grad student part of my life means I rarely have time to live too virtuously, though it helps that I also have little time to shop, etc. But I can't wait till my life settles down and I can start thinking about local eating (or "foodshedding" as you brilliantly call it), reusing (ala Wardrobe Refashioning) and so forth. Right now, I just content myself with reading blogs and writing blog posts when I have a chance. My blog (Subjects are Silly) is a hodgepodge, which means environmental stuff shows up a lot.
Thanks again for such a delightful blog!
Well, you know I'm here. But Hi!
Lissa: I've been adoring your blog since you first commented on FoodShed Planet a little while back! And Chelsea, so nice to meet you! I hope I can really do you proud with "moving some things forward" here in Atlanta. And Christy, of course, you must forgive me now that I've scared you AWAY from Atlanta . . . :)
Originally from Oregon, currently residing in Portugal.
Portugal! Wow! We were going to honeymoon in Portugal but ended up on St. Martin instead. I've always wondered what I've missed . . .
Do you have a blog?
Yes, I love the symmetry in sharing templates in very different places. You've done so much more with yours. Glad we met up...
Hi Pattie,
My husband, Tim, found you and shared your blog with me, so now we both read it. We live in Georgia, currently in Canton, but moving to Elberton where we are starting a sustainable farm aimed at providing healthful food for our community. We are both from the corporate world and know nothing about farming, but are ready to cash it all in for our dream of becoming farmers. We'll be full fledged up and running by next spring, but until then you can read about all of our adventures at www.naturesharmonyfarm.com!

Liz: Tim and I are old buds at this point! I actually interviewed him for a New Age Journal article I wrote (which is coming out in late January). Very nice to meet you. I have your blog already in my blogroll. How are the new piggies? Soooo cute.
The pigs are doing great! They are SO friendly and all come running up to us every time we stop by to say hello. They eat out of our hands and nuzzle our legs with their noses. This weekend the cows arrive. I hope we don't have another adventure like the pig who ran out of the fence!
Love your blog Pattie and can't wait to meet you in person one day!
